Some days, the hardest part of writing isn’t the words. It’s the noise. The scrolling, the to-do lists, the voice that says you’re behind. I’ve had so many sessions where I sat down ready to write and ended up staring at a blank page because my mind just wouldn’t settle.
That’s why I started something new: Writing Sanctuary on YouTube, a little corner of music & calm spaces for writers.
It’s a faceless channel full of hour-long instrumental background music made for writing, paired with cozy fantasy visuals: cherry blossoms, quiet desks, quills and tea, libraries, and castles. If you’ve ever felt stuck, scattered, or just in need of a calm place to focus, I made this for you.
Our First Video: Cherry Blossom Writing Music
The very first video is 1 Hour Cherry Blossom Writing Music | Cozy Fantasy Desk Ambience. It’s about an hour long and features a peaceful cherry blossom writing desk scene, the kind of place I’d love to write in if I could step into it.
The video premieres today at 2pm ET on YouTube, and a little companion YouTube Short drops tonight at 7pm ET. Come write with me when it goes live, or press play any time after that works for you.
Once it’s live, press play, let the petals drift, and give yourself permission to just write.
How to Use the Hour
An hour can feel big, so here’s a gentle way to break it up. You don’t have to follow it perfectly. It’s just a soft structure to lean on.
- Set an intention (about 5 minutes). Before you start, write one sentence about what you’d like to work on. It can be as small as “I want to write one scene” or “I just want to show up.”
- Write in 2–3 timed sprints. Try two 20-minute sprints or three 15-minute sprints, with a short stretch or sip of tea in between. During a sprint, don’t edit. Just keep moving forward.
- Wrap up gently (about 5 minutes). In the last few minutes, jot down where you left off and one thing you’re proud of from this session. That makes it so much easier to come back next time.
If you only make it through one sprint, that still counts. Showing up is the win.
Cherry Blossom Writing Prompts
If you’re not sure what to write, let the scene inspire you. Here are a few prompts to pair with the video:
- A character finds a letter tucked between pages of a book, pressed with a single cherry blossom.
- Two rivals are forced to share a writing desk beneath a blooming tree for one spring.
- The cherry blossoms only bloom when someone in the village tells the truth.
- A young scribe writes a wish with a quill, and by morning the petals have rearranged themselves into a reply.
- Your character returns to the garden where they made a promise years ago and finds someone still waiting.
- Every petal that falls carries a memory, and your character catches the wrong one.
- Write a quiet tea-time conversation where something important is left unsaid.
What’s Coming Next
This is only the beginning! I’m working on more videos for the channel, including cozy library scenes for those days you want to feel surrounded by stories, and autumn and October scenes for spooky-season and fall writing sessions.
I’ll share them here on the blog as they’re ready, so you’ll always have a new calm space to write in.
I’d Love to Hear From You
If you write along with the video, please leave a comment on it! If you catch the premiere at 2pm ET, come say hi in the comments while it plays. Tell me what you’re working on, how your session went, or what kind of scene you’d love to see next. Reading your comments helps me know what kinds of spaces help you write, and honestly, it would make my day.
And if you’d like to come back for future videos, subscribing is always an option, but no pressure at all.
